After all of the time and effort that goes into planning the dream wedding day, your honeymoon is going to be a much welcomed break from sleepless nights, quotes, deposits, RSVP’s, meetings, fittings, phone calls and endless conversations about all things wedding. But, so many couples find that they have invested so much of themselves and their savings into the wedding and wedding planning that their honeymoon suffers. Your honeymoon is at the end of the day such an important time. It's the very beginning of this lifelong adventure.

Here are some tips to paving the way for you to have the best honeymoon; and starting your new adventure together:

  • Make a list of everything you will need on your honeymoon and then make sure to your bags well ahead of time to avoid last-minute rushes.

  • SAVE! Be sure to save a bit of extra money so that you can really enjoy yourselves on your honeymoon without stressing too much about not having enough money to enjoy yourself. Make sure to have saved extra money than you planned for. Once you get to your honeymoon location you will find there's much more to do and see than you first planned to to.

  • Be prepared. Do your research, read reviews of the accommodation, tourist attractions, restaurants, and activities in the area.

  • Once you get there - be willing to try something a little different. You might go to a country that you will never see again, most countries have different foods and cultures. Get a little out of your comfort zone and try new foods and things.

  • Take as much time as possible. You will be tired after all the wedding planning and you will finally be able to relax. When taking time off remember to factor in the travel time so that you’re not rushing from one place and destination to another.

  • Be sure to take something sexy for your honeymoon. Remember your sexy underwear.

  • Do your research regarding anything medical. If you need vaccinations and paperwork for your trip be sure to do it well in advance. Make sure your medical aid is aware that you will be out of the country for a specific time.

  • Make one another feel really special and loved every day you are on your honeymoon.

  • Pack a first-aid kit or a small bag with any medical supplies you might need. You will find that that all destinations has pharmacy's or medical things that you might need while away.

  • Turn your phone off and stay far away from social media until you’re back home. You can post your honeymoon photo's once you are settled in and back home. It's a special time you won't get again, so make sure to use your phone as little as possible.

  • Be sure to arrive back home at least a day or two before having to start work again. You will need time to recover, relax and ease into things.

  • Check the weather of your honeymoon destination. What season will it be once you arrive and make sure you pack the right clothes.

  • Once you get to your destination: take each day as it comes, and try to fit in what you can without exhausting yourselves.

  • Be on time for your all your flights.

  • Take as many photographs as you possibly can, and include one another in your pictures. Ask waiters or tour guides to take pictures, when possible, so that your honeymoon photos aren’t only a collection of selfies.

  • Use a credit card where possible. Be careful when travelling with valuables and cash.

  • Once at your honeymoon destination try to do something from both of your bucket lists.

  • Buy a souvenir for yourselves or your home to remember your special honeymoon time by.

  • Have fun. And above all else, make this a priority.
